On Digital Ageism and Beyond: How Older Adults unfold Ageing and Technology relations in France
Published Dissertation by Dr. Marie Poux-Berthe
Dr. Marie Poux-Berthe officially graduated from her PhD program in February 2025 with a thesis entitled “On Digital Ageism and Beyond: How Older Adults Unfold Aging and Technology Relations in France”. In her monograph, Dr. Marie Poux-Berthe looked into the place and role of older adults in an increasingly digitalized society and, through the peculiar case of France, she joined research efforts to study how ageism and techno-solutionism can inform each other. Alongside the successful completion of her PhD, in 2024, Dr. Marie Poux- Berthe was elected as Communication Officer of the European Communication Research and Education Association Temporary Working Group on Aging and Communication Studies, and presented a paper at the 10th conference in Ljubljana entitled “Dynamic dialogues in digitization in later life”. In October 2024, she also presented a research paper on older adults’ perspectives on deadbots at the 7th edition of the Death Online Research Symposium (DORS) at the University of Helsinki.
